Natural Remedies For Ingrown Toenails

Tea Tree Oil

Thanks to its antiviral and antifungal properties, this is one of the best natural remedies for ingrown toenails. You can purchase tea tree oil at most pharmacies, in either an oral form or in a cream. If you’re using it as a cream, massage about three drops into your toe every few hours. If you’re using it as a spray, add one tablespoon of tea tree oil to two tablespoons of water, then spray this onto the affected area. You can also use tea tree oil with aloe vera gel for maximum effect.

Garlic

The antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties of garlic reduce pain, swelling, and the risk of infection. After applying garlic topically to your feet, you won’t want to go near anyone, but it’s an excellent natural remedy for ingrown nails. Make a paste using crushed garlic and water, then apply it to the affected areas. Let it dry before covering it with a bandage. Reapply this paste 2-3 times per day until your ingrown nails are gone.

Baking Soda

Baking soda is an excellent natural remedy for getting rid of ingrown toenails fast. Baking soda has the same antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties as garlic. Your skin will quickly absorb it, so this remedy is very easy to apply. Mix some baking soda with water until you’ve formed a paste, then apply it to your toe for about 20 minutes at a time. You’ll notice that your ingrown nails become less painful and that the swelling goes down.

Lavender Oil

Lavender oil is a powerful antiseptic and anti-inflammatory, making it an effective remedy for ingrown toenails. Add about five drops to one tablespoon of water, then soak a cotton ball in the solution. Apply it to your toe for about half an hour, then rinse off with clean water. Do this 2-3 times per day until your ingrown nails have cleared up completely.

Conclusion

Ingrown toenails aren’t usually serious, but they can be painful and unsightly. Fortunately, there’s a wide range of natural remedies for ingrown nails that you can try at home. Most of which will show improvement within a few days or weeks. If they don’t, you should make an appointment with a podiatrist since they’ll recommend a more effective treatment. Also, if there is any sign of infection near your ingrown toenail, it’s best to see a doctor so they can provide you with the proper medication for clearing it up.
