Ways You Might Be Attracting Bugs In Your Home

Bugs can be a big problem in your home. They might crawl on the floor, fly around your room, or hide in tight corners of your drawers and cabinets. These pests are not only annoying but also difficult to get rid of! This article will discuss a few of the most common ways you might be attracting bugs in your home.

Old Books

Insects are attracted to old papers. This also includes books that are ancient, letters, and heaps of newspaper. Old books tend to have a strong smell that bugs love. If you want to get rid of any bugs in your home, it is best to get rid of all your old books and papers. If you have to keep the book make sure you clean it to try and get rid of that smell. If that doesn’t work you might just want to buy a new one.

White Lightbulbs

The most appealing sort of light for insects is bluish and bright lights. Several people use white light bulbs in their homes, which can attract bugs. Insects are also drawn to the color because it is similar to a bright summer day–a time when they breed and feed. If you have been noticing an increasing amount of insects around your home try changing out your lights with yellow or orange ones instead!

White Door And Window Frames

Many types of bugs are attracted to light and white colors. Things such as white doors and window frames are a big problem because they reflect light. In turn, this attracts bugs to your home making it difficult for you to get rid of them! If you have white doors or windows consider painting over them with a different color that is not as bright. It is recommended to paint the exterior of your home in darker, more neutral shades such as brown or green. These colors will help keep insects away from your house!

Boxes Made From Cardboard

Bugs love to snack on cardboard. This is because it contains starches and sugars that are easy to digest–similar to the things they find in your pantry! If you have boxes lying around make sure none of them are made from cardboard or else bugs will be attracted to your home. You can try using plastic bins instead which would also help keep your items safe if there was a bug infestation.
